- A Brief HISTORY OF -

Self-confessed late starter Simon Marks began his career with an invite to perform as part of the West Coast Blues and Roots Fringe Festival, having been a fisherman, baker, offshore sailor and all manner of life beforehand.

From this start Simon continually hit the road gathering his loyal audiences by performing thousands of shows while also releasing 5 independent albums collaborating with some of the nations finest musicians includingBen Franz(The Waifs)Syd Green(Kasey Chambers)Danny McKenna(Jeff Lang) andHamish Davidson(The Davidson Brothers).

Wether performing festival bills or playing house concerts, art galleries, bars, barns or everything in-between, including one time aboard a sinking ship! Simon Marks is nothing if not adaptable.

An induction to the National Library of Australia Music Archive for ‘Heather’ shone a light on the broad appeal of this artist whilst simultaneously receiving significant airplay on ABC Radio for both’Wally’(The Mick Thomas Song) and‘Misfit’ from his ‘Big River, Little Stories’ album.

Of late Simon was offered an‘Artist in Residence’ position viaThe ACRE Project to create new works, finding himself following in the footsteps of previous ACRE Project recipients including Kutcha Edwards and Neil Murray.

Often spontaneous, always entertaining, Simon’s live shows feature songs and stories that are occasionally sad, though more often funny, and are a true joy to be part of and experienced at least once in your lifetime.
